Pinellas County School Board Chair Rene Flowers announced just hours ago that R. Jai Gillum, wife of gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum, will make a surprise campaign stop in St. Petersburg between 4:45 and 5 p.m. today, Saturday, at the office of Toriano Parker (833-22nd Street South).
“We have to keep our sister lifted up! ” Flowers wrote in a text to community leaders alerting them of the event. The stop by Mrs. Gillum will follow a visit with her husband’s campaign supporters in Hillsborough County.
The St. Pete gathering is sure to attract fellow Rattlers. Like her husband, the 40-year old mother of three, is a graduate of Florida A&M University, where she earned both her undergraduate degree and a Master of Public Health degree.
Flowers also notes that the would-be First Lady of Florida is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, but emphasizes that all are welcome to meet-and-greet with R. Jai today. “Please come and show her some love if you can.”
